Happy Birthday, Therese!!!
I realize it's been a long time since I posted, but I had to say happy birthday to my little girl. Yesterday (March 14) was Therese's 3rd birthday, complete with presents, party and cake. She was really excited all day about being a birthday girl. The excitement must have worn her out because she actually slept on her new big girl bed. As part of her birthday, Todd and I took her to the store and let her pick out her own sheets for her new bed. I was a little nervous about this (did I mention her FAVORITE color is green???) but she picked a really cute set with flowers and butterflies that she just loves. Tonight when I said good night to her, she laid down her little curly head and said, "Ooohhhh" in a bit of a whine like something was wrong. I asked her what was up and she simpered, "The flowers are just so pretty" and pointed to her pillowcase.
Therese is getting so big (well, old - she's still really short) that she even helped make her ladybug birthday cake. She was very excited to add sprinkles to the frosting and insisted on "testing" the pink icing multiple times. We had a few friends over and ate tacos, macaroni and cheese, and "brown" cake per the birthday girl's instructions. Therese loved her new baby doll (thanks Mamie and Papa!) which came with a crib and a high chair, her new Super Why puzzle, and her first Leap Pad. All in all, it was a great day for all of us! I can't imagine life without our sweet, independent, verbal little girl.
